Salammbô, by Gustave Flaubert, illustrated by Georges Rochegrosse. 1900. One of 200 copies on "Grand Velin d’Arches" paper. Bound by S. David based on G. Rochegrosse’s design. The books include the designs of Rochegrosse depicting the bindings, as well as several autographed letters between the illustrator and the binder. In addition, it includes several black and white pencil studies and original watercolors of some of the book illustrations. This is a truly magnificent example of the cooperation between two Art Nouveau masters.
